What can I expect from Outer Edge Travel Events and Adventures?

You can expect an experience, that is just that, an experience. We pride ourselves in not just being sightseers or tourists, but active participants in life. Expect to change perspectives with a change of scenery. You will find experiences grounded in empowerment, learning, and finding your edge.

What makes your Adventures/Trips unique?

So much of life can occur behind the glass and within the container of comfort. We explore the full spectrum of life. We pride ourselves in seeking out ways to grow and immerse participants in unique cultures throughout the world. What does this look like? This looks like active participation in life. From using the practical aspects of yoga to deepen your experience, to eating foriegn foods, or taking an unmarked trail with a trusted guide. We are adventure seekers who live life on purpose with intention. We seek to explore and understand the edge. This may mean pushing physical bounderies, walking over boarders, or exploring the outerskirts of town.

I see yoga adventures listed, do you offer 'non yoga' trips?

Absolutely! We are always seeking out ways to craft experiences that allow us to explore the edge. Whether this means culinary expiditions, outdoor adventures, or softening the edges with luxury travel. We also offer custom small group and private tours, contact us, we would be happy to arrange your unique adventure.

Can I go to an event or on a trip alone?

Yes, and believe us you're not alone. The beauty of our offerings is that we create a space for those with common interests to gather and explore together. We do what we can to create community. Are you a solo nomad that likes to keep it that way? Or perhaps your inner Hemingway is seeking independence? Great news, we love to do all the planning for our solo adventures. Who will I room with?

We pair all of our solo travllers with someone of the same gender when you choose a shared rooming options. When possible we do our best to pair you with someone of like mind and interests. When available we offer single rooms with variable pricing. Single rooms are always a great idea if you know you frequently get up in the middle of the night, have touble sleeping, snore, or have sleep apnea. We do our best to make sure everyone rests well for the next days adventures.

I have never done yoga. Can I join a yoga adventure/event?

Yes. The physical practice of yoga will be tailored to the group. The integration of yoga techniques for travel and transformation will be practical and approachable for all. Each yoga excursion is designed to focus on the most practical aspects of yoga including postures and philosophies so that tools can be used by anyone with or without yoga experience. Some of our yoga excursions are not yoga dominate* adventures and yoga will be used to enhance your travel and cultural immersion. *Please be sure to review the itinerary closely. Some of the locations visited in the world are not suitable for the physical practice of yoga, however, yoga philosophy is used as the backbone for the experience.

Can I share a room with my friend/s or partner?

Absolutely! If you are coming as a group or with a partner you will all need to book one ticket per-person. If you have specific requests to share a room with particular participants who have booked separately please indicate this on your registration form. Can I be comfortable doing adventure travel?

Adventure travel and physical comfort can go hand-in-hand. We are adventure seekers with years of experience leaping out of our comfort zones and well practiced at getting comfortably uncomfortable. This means we are experts at finding the edge and crafting ways for you explore yours with some added comforts. Are you the one who likes getting gnarly on the trails, taking cold showers, and eating on a dirt floor? We have been there too, and we're happy to create that experience as well. Who are your guides?

We are proud to be a small company that is founded on the company we keep. That means we vet our guides in order to ensure they align with our high standards. Yes, we love adventures, but this is an area where to do our best to safetly take the next step. We always love to hear feedback from our participants on their guided experiences. In-House Guides: We set the bar high for our company guides. Cominging in with a unique background, set of skills, and experiences layered with guide licensing, Wilderness First Aid, and CPR. We're happy to share more with you, so please reach out!

What is the maximum group size?

We pride ourselves in minimum impact and maximum enjoyment -- we keep our group sizes to a maximum of 12 people whenever possible. Our minimum is typically 4 people. Are you interested in gathering a group of friends, family, or co-workers for the ultimate bonding experiences? Lets talk!

What do I need to bring?

Usually all you need to bring is your personal gear. We provide a gear list outlining needed clothing and equipment for each trip on our website.

What's the food like?

On hotel- and inn-based trips, we dine in local restaurants and have the pleasure of experiencing a variety of local cuisine. We eat well on our camping trips, too, which feature an abundance of fresh, delicious food. On our high-altitude climbing trips, we use a combination of fresh and freeze-dried food. All water used for cooking and drinking is purified by filter or it's boiled. We can also accommodate special dietary requests (vegetarian, food allergies, etc.). Please refer to the specific trip itinerary for a list of which meals are included on your trip.

What are the fitness level ratings for Adventures/Events?

We have active trips for every skill level, ranging from relaxed to strenuous. These guidelines will help you select the level of adventure that's right for you. (1) Relaxed: Adventure travel at its most relaxed pace.

  • Activity: 1-3 hours most days
  • Distances: walk less than 3 miles most days
  • Surfaces: flat terrain
  • Elevation change: little to none
  • Altitude: less than 3,000 ft
(2) Easy Active: Great for newcomers to active travel.
  • Activity: 2-5 hours most days
  • Distances: Hike up to 6 miles, cycle 10-30 miles most days
  • Surfaces: flat or rolling terrain with some steep ascents/descents and uneven trails
  • Elevation change: up to 2,000 ft/day
  • Altitude: up to 6,000 ft
(3) Moderate: For outdoor novices and above.
  • Activity: 4-6 hours most days
  • Distances: Hike up to 10 miles most days, cycle 20-40 miles most days
  • Surfaces: rolling or mountainous terrain with some steep ascents/descents and uneven trails
  • Elevation change: up to 3,000 ft/day
  • Altitude: up to 10,000 ft
(3-4) Moderate Plus:
  • Trips rated as Moderate Plus [3-4] are recommended for travelers seeking both moderate [3] and vigorous [4] activity levels. Please refer to daily trip itineraries for specifics.
(4) Vigorous: Recommended for fit travelers with basic skills
  • Activity: 5-8 hours most days
  • Distances: Hike up to 12 miles most days, cycle 30-50 miles most days
  • Surfaces: mountainous, exposed terrain with steep ascents/descents and uneven trails
  • Elevation change: up to 4,000 ft/day
  • Altitude: up to 14,000 ft.
  • Experience and a doctor's release may be required
(5) Strenuous: Designed for very fit travelers.
  • Activity: 10+ hours/day
  • Distances: Hike 12 or more miles most days, cycle 50 or more miles most days
  • Surfaces: remote, mountainous, exposed terrain with steep ascents/descents, uneven trails with loose features.
  • Elevation change: up to 4,000 ft/day
  • Altitude: may well exceed 14,000 ft
  • Experience and a doctor's release are required
